About

I'm Alex, a freelance Surface Pattern Designer, Textile Artist and Designer Maker based in Manchester, England.

Across a 12-year career, my experience spans fashion, interiors, automotive and lifestyle products. Having graduated with a first class degree in Fashion Design with Print and subsequently a Masters in Textiles from the Royal College of Art, I've been fortunate enough to work with two iconic brands, first as a print designer for Orla Kiely and then as a colour and material designer for Jaguar Land Rover.

Having made the leap to go freelance five years ago, I've since worked on all sorts of projects across a wide range of mediums. I'm available for commissions, and would love to hear more about how I could design a print to fit your brief. You can get in touch here.

My style

I consider myself an explorer, and am endlessly fascinated by the interactions between materials, colour and pattern. My style is distinctive: unapologetically bold and uplifting, my designs have strong graphic, structural and sometimes architectural elements. I attribute much of my use of bright and bold colours to my childhood: born of Anglo-Polish heritage and for a time living in Jos in Nigeria, my early years were rich in experiences, art, culture and travel.

Although my design work is predominantly digital/screen-based, I really enjoy working with my hands and have recently started to interpret some of my 2D surface patterns into 3D cut paper artworks, a selection of which are now available to buy through my online shop.
